It appears Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are going all out, with tight security being part of the measures in place for their upcoming wedding in New York City. With nearly 1,000 guests expected, reports indicate that the National Guard could be involved in ensuring security.
The presence of the National Guard outside Madison Square Garden sparked questions as the Taylor Swift wedding weekend approaches
According to TMZ, Madison Square Garden saw a heavy National Guard deployment recently, with nearby streets closed as preparations ramped up for what could be a major wedding celebration. Meanwhile, a large NYPD–National Guard meeting was underway outside the arena.
However, a spokesperson for the National Guard told the outlet that around 1,000 members are deployed in New York City on a daily basis, with personnel assigned to patrol Penn Station, Grand Central Station, and other high-traffic areas. They also clarified that this deployment is not related to Swift’s wedding.
According to another report by TMZ, Swift and Kelce, who announced their engagement in August 2025, are reportedly planning a large wedding event on July 3 at MSG. Sources with direct knowledge said that a permit has been filed with New York City to close streets surrounding MSG from July 2 through July 4 in connection with the planned event. City sources said the permit office is working with the NYPD on managing potential traffic and pedestrian flow near the venue.
For their wedding, Swift and Kelce are reportedly handpicking their guest list, choosing a close-knit circle. The Sun reports that Swift’s close friend Gigi Hadid is likely to be one of her bridesmaids, alongside Selena Gomez and the Haim sisters. According to Heart, the guest list includes names such as Ed Sheeran, Suki Waterhouse, Graham Norton, Zoë Kravitz, Jack Antonoff, Jason and Kylie Kelce, Andy Reid, and George Kittle.
