King Charles is reportedly funding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s security arrangements during their July visit to the UK, ensuring the safety of Archie and Lilibet. The family, who relocated to the United States in 2020, will be visiting the country for the first time in four years and are expected to attend the Invictus Games event in Birmingham.
Prince Harry’s father King Charles will reportedly finance the family’s security detail for an upcoming trip
As reported by The Sun, sources close to the Duke said King Charles had offered his own resources to ensure a safe UK stay for Harry and his family. Just hours later, the Duke of Sussex, who is set to attend the one-year countdown event for the Invictus Games in Birmingham, released a video message on the official Invictus Games’ Instagram account and said he feels honoured to send this message to the participants.
Commenting on the protective security system, a government spokesperson said, as quoted by The Sun, “It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security.”
Harry has made several trips to the UK since stepping back from royal duties in 2020; however, Meghan’s upcoming visit will be her first since the late Queen’s funeral in 2022, reports The Mirror.
Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet also visited the UK in 2022 for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, months before her passing. It is believed this was the only time King Charles had met his granddaughter. Harry and his father last met on September 10, 2025, at Clarence House in London, where they held a private 55-minute conversation, their first in-person meeting in 19 months.
The Sussex family’s visit comes after Harry was stripped of state-funded security and lost his attempt to secure higher levels of protection in the UK, previously stating he would not bring his family back until safety was assured. Harry told the BBC in 2025, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point,” adding, “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight any more; life is precious.”
