Conor McGregor Admits Hitting Rock Bottom and Forgives Himself

MMA star Conor McGregor recently gave a raw and vulnerable interview on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” where he reflected on his upcoming return to the octagon at UFC 329 against Max Holloway.

He admitted to having hit rock bottom in 2021 and revealed how it had led him to reconnect with his childhood and realign his relationship with God.

Conor McGregor says he has no “regrets” after paying over $200k to a sexual assault victim

When questioned about what exactly his rock bottom entailed, McGregor said, “Well, a few dark moments. But I relished the opportunity to show my strength…So I stood up and showed it, and that’s what I done… And please God, I keep it. Thank you, God.”

The former UFC champion is all set to face Max Holloway in his first fight in five years. The star faced sexual assault allegations from Nikita Hand at a Dublin hotel in 2018. He reportedly paid the plaintiff a hefty sum of £200,000 as compensation.

However, McGregor has said that he has no regrets about the settlement and, in fact, has taken the opportunity to reevaluate his life against past mistakes. When asked about whether he has misgivings about the past, McGregor said, “No. God knows my heart and things that I have gone through,” adding, “A young man, I came into all this; I forgive myself for what I… I forgive myself for disgracing the position that God put me in…”

The star added,  “I’m happy and thankful for the lessons that I learned on the way. I am a religious man… It takes a deeper meaning when you hit rock bottom, and there’s nothing else but God. And then just the divine coincidences, everything just I keep seeing it. I keep being shown it, and I’m going all in on it.”
