President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on June 14 by hosting UFC Freedom 250, the first professional sporting event ever held on the White House South Lawn. However, his appearance at the event sparked online health speculation hours after announcing a peace deal with Iran.
Social media users appeared to be more focused on Donald Trump’s appearance than the UFC fights
The discussion started when political commentator Harry Sisson posted a Paramount+ video showing the 80-year-old president departing the Oval Office for the event, stating, “Trump looks terrible in this. Clearly not healthy.” The 15-second clip showed Trump and UFC president Dana White walking from the Oval Office to the Blue Room balcony to survey the Octagon.
The footage prompted online reactions. One of the users commented, “He looks tired, it’s not like he hasn’t been working his ass off for the last month. He perked up once he got outside and with his people. MAGA.” Another wrote, “He’s probably been up for 48 hours negotiating with the Iranians.”
Many also criticised Sisson for commenting on Trump’s appearance. A netizen wrote, “What did you want him to look like at 80? He’s not stumbling around bumping into anything; he’s literally just walking around. When it comes to health, he’s looking just fine.” One more said, “We must not be watching the same event live. He looks amazing at 80 years, with the weight of the entire nation, even the world, on his shoulders.”
According to NBC News, the mixed martial arts event saw 14 fighters compete beneath the temporary arena, The Claw, with thousands of spectators in attendance. Trump spent much of the night seated between Dana White and Melania Trump, with members of his family and business leaders, including Donald Trump Jr. and Mark Zuckerberg.
The event was also attended by senior federal officials, media figures, and lawmakers, including FCC Chair Brendan Carr, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and Senate Majority Leader John Thune, reports The Hill.
