Megyn Kelly reportedly lashed back at Donald Trump supporters on the Hodgetwins podcast on Friday. She argued that the MAGA movement is not what it used to be and that President Trump’s base of loyalists has shrunk dramatically, leaving behind a small pool who think that Trump “can do no wrong.”
Megyn Kelly feels the MAGA movement is far from what it used to be under Trump
Megyn Kelly said that Donald Trump‘s MAGA support base is “an increasingly tiny group,” prefacing it by saying, “MAGA is not what it was. MAGA is now this very, very small group of Trump diehard loyalists who have to love Mark Levin.” The comment drew laughter from the hosts due to Kelly’s ongoing feud with Levin.
According to RadarOnline, Trump had previously defended the conservative after Kelly had mocked him. The president responded, calling Levin a “Great American Patriot” who was being unfairly targeted by “jealous and angry” critics.
Kelly also revealed her incredulity over how the MAGA movement had changed. “I guess I’ve been surprised to see how quickly [MAGA has] shrunk down to something less formidable, by far, than it used to be,” she said.
At one point in the interview, Kelly did appear to push back on judgments that Trump supporters were cultists, though she admitted that “they do have the same kind of loyalty.” She added, “And I get that. You know, they’ve been burned by a lot of other politicians. They felt like Trump got them at a time when everybody was ignoring them.”
When one of the Hodgetwins hosts claimed that Trump was “George Bush 2.0,” Kelly agreed, saying, “It’s stunning to me that the people who voted for the man who said over and over ‘No new wars,’ [and] ‘No war with Iran, no Middle East wars’ — and specifically over and over said ‘Iran’ and also said ‘The Democrats are going to get us into a war with Iran’… that was not a throwaway line.”
