David Tennant’s Kilgrave Strikes In 2 New Jessica Jones Preview Scenes

Later this week, Marvel’s Jessica Jones will complete its escape from development hell and debut a 13 episode first season on Netflix. Krysten Ritter is playing the title character of Jessica Jones, a fallen heroine who is attempting to rebuild her life while working as a private investigator.

Former Doctor Who star David Tennant will portray Jessica’s primary nemesis, Kilgrave, a man who can control almost anyone simply by telling them what he wants. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Kilgrave was known as the Purple Man and he was responsible for the end of Jessica Jones’ career as a superheroine. While Tennant’s Kilgrave may not have the purple skin and hair of his comic book counterpart, his role in Jessica’s downfall is largely intact.

Netflix has released two Jessica Jones preview clips centered on Tennant’s Kilgrave. In the first video, Kilgrave barges in on an unsuspecting family that is helpless to resist his whims.

In the second video, Kilgrave demonstrates a more subtle use of his powers, as he influences the other players in a high stakes poker game.

Jessica Jones will also co-star Mike Colter as Luke Cage before spinning him out into his own original series in 2016. Rachael Taylor also stars as Trish Walker, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s counterpart of Hellcat, and Jessica’s best friend. The cast is rounded out by Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty, and Wil Traval.

Twilight and Dexter writer, Melissa Rosenberg is the executive producer and showrunner of Jessica Jones, which will debut this Friday, November 20 on Netflix.
