Sochi Olympics 2014: The Athletes’ Freebies

While there’s no doubt that the athletes at the Winter Olympics in Sochi are relishing the opportunity to compete for their countries and the chance to bring home a medal or two, there’s something else that many of them seem to be enjoying – all the free stuff.

In addition to stocking up on freebies from sponsors like McDonald’s and Coca Cola, there are a number of other things that are being handed out for free, including condoms and beer.

Here’s a peek at what some of the athletes have been loading up on so far:

U.S. freeskiier Torin Yater-Wallace's apparently likes McDonald’s…a lot.

While it’s pretty cool that the U.S. Figure Skating team gets free soda with their food…

…it’s even cooler that team Canada gets to wash down their Mickey D’s with free beer.

After a couple of those beers, some frisky Canadians might need these freebies.

Depending on how that goes, a couple of these babies might work well afterwards.

While it might not be because of the beer, the Canadian women’s hockey team was able to rally and score two third-period goals to knock off the American squad on Wednesday 3-2. Before the victory, the provider of Canada’s free beer supply tweeted out a preemptive apology. (Both teams will still be advancing to the semifinals.)
