First Act Confirmed For Groovin The Moo 2014

Australia’s most celebrated regional festival, Groovin The Moo, has a confirmed first act for 2014.

Aussie rock outfit Karnivool are all but in for the 2014 installment of Groovin The Moo, leaking the information in an interview with Triple J.

“This tour finishes in a week or so, then we have a bit of time off,” frontman Ian Kenny told “The Doctor”.

“We have the Groovin The Moo festival coming up, and then midyear we’ll be in Europe doing the festival circuit there again, and that’ll take us to the back half of the year and I’m not exactly sure what’s happening there.”

Karnivool’s third studio album, Asymmetry, shot to No.1 on the ARIA Chart after being released in the middle of last year before selling out a host of European shows in a tour over October and November.

The official Groovin’ The Moo lineup will drop Jan 29 with the festival visiting South Australia for the first time, adding to stops in Maitland, Canberra, Bendigo, Townsville and Bunbury in April and May.

The Big Day Out is right around the corner, but that hasn’t stopped organisers announcing a last minute change of venue.

Perth’s leg of the tour will move from Claremont Showgrounds (capacity 40,000) to Arena Joondalup, rough 25km from the city’s centre.

“Big Day Out is pleased to be moving to a new home which has the support and encouragement of the venue management as well as the forward thinking and progressive City of Joondalup,” said the festival in a statement.

The Pearl Jam and Arcade Fire led festival kicks of Jan 17 in Auckland before touring Australia and finishing up in Perth on Feb 2.
