Kim Kardashian Responds to ‘All’s Fair’ Success After Brutal Criticism

Kim Kardashian is not letting the brutal All’s Fair reviews spoil the show’s success. The Hulu drama attracted a major audience despite critics tearing into its first season.

Now, Kardashian seems more interested in the results than the reviews. After all, the backlash helped turn All’s Fair into one of Hulu’s biggest recent scripted launches.

Kim Kardashian reponds to ‘All’s Fair’s’ ‘soup of success’ after criticism

Kardashian addressed the show’s unusual trajectory during her Nov. 5 appearance on The View. The conversation quickly turned to the mix of terrible reviews, huge attention and strong viewership surrounding the series.

Rather than dwell on the criticism, Kardashian embraced what the hosts described as the show’s “soup of success.”

She also credited Ryan Murphy with putting her in a position to succeed on the series.

“I think he was intentional in setting me up for success by surrounding me with, like, the best of the best actors in the world that I could learn from.”

The reaction comes after All’s Fair endured a rough critical debut. Its Rotten Tomatoes score initially fell to 0%, and reviewers delivered some particularly harsh verdicts.

Kardashian responded differently. Soon after the premiere, she joked that All’s Fair was “critically acclaimed” while sharing reactions to the negative coverage.

Meanwhile, viewers kept watching.

All’s Fair generated 3.2 million global views during its first three days, according to TheWrap. As a result, it became Hulu’s biggest scripted series debut in three years. The backlash may have actually helped. Reports later claimed the terrible reviews became some of the show’s “best PR” as curious viewers tuned in to judge the series for themselves.

In fact, social media conversation around the show helped keep it in the spotlight. Hulu then renewed All’s Fair for Season 2 less than three weeks after its debut.

Still, strong launch numbers do not erase the critical response. Instead, they show just how differently critics and audiences can react to the same series.

Season 2 premiered Nov. 4. This time, Kardashian is returning with proof that harsh reviews did not stop viewers from watching.
