Taylor Swift has recently been labeled the “fakest celebrity Knicks fan,” as New York Knicks player Tyler Kolek took a dig at the global pop star on “NBA 2K League.” He told his teammate, Deuce McBride, that Swift’s appearance at the games is likely “performative.”
While the two agreed that Swifties might criticize them brutally online, Kolek still reportedly disapproved of the singer being a Knicks fan.
Knicks star Tyler Kolek brands Taylor Swift their ‘fakest fan’ in new show video
Knicks star player Tyler Kolek and Deuce McBride had a candid conversation about their game and team recently. On the show’s page, an Instagram clip featured Kolek answering the question, “Who is the fakest celebrity Knicks fan?”
He said, “At the Knicks games, I would say it’s very performative, ’cause, like, they just want to be seen at the game. They’re not necessarily fans. Maybe Taylor Swift?” Agreeing with Kolek, McBride added, “Swifties not going to like that answer.” Both players realized that the global sensation’s fans might give them “some hate” over their response.
Furthermore, McBride explained that other celebrities like Ben Stiller and Tracy Morgan are “solid” fans. Adding to that, his fellow player said, “I guess she’s got a lot going on, so she can’t come all the time.” This made McBride chuckle as he admitted Kolek was trying to save himself from online backlash. However, the 25-year-old NBA star insisted that Swift was a “bit performative” with her attendance.
Meanwhile, the video has garnered over 5K likes as of this writing. Many users agreed with the two players’ opinion that Swift is a fake fan. But some also supported the Grammy winner, arguing she has been into the Knicks for a long time.
Swift was last spotted at a New York Knicks game on June 10, 2026. It was Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. Interestingly, the next month, she got married at the same venue to Travis Kelce.
