Prince William offered a first look at his unexpected new role as guest editor of Country Life magazine. The Prince of Wales appeared in a behind-the-scenes photograph reviewing pages for its November 11 edition.
Released on November 5, the image showed the royal heir working alongside the publication’s senior editors. His special issue will focus on rural mental-health support, conservation, and personal favorites. Meanwhile, the assignment follows a tradition already embraced by several royal family members.

The photograph captured Prince William approving the final pages on October 5. He sat with editor-in-chief Mark Hedges and managing editor Paula Minchin. Country Life magazine announced the role on June 19, with publication scheduled for November 11.
Moreover, its November 6 preview described a 300-page special edition, developed over six months. The publication said William also discussed protecting local pubs, declaring, “We need to protect our pubs.”
As outlined by the magazine, the edition explores improving access to mental health services in the countryside. Additionally, it will feature his favorite view, recipe, painting, and a selection of rural champions.
Hedges said he was “thrilled” to have the Prince as guest editor. Following their planning meeting, he described the royal as “a passionate countryman.” The editor said William cared about “the welfare of those who manage it.” He also anticipated coverage of environmental protection and rural communities.
Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales followed King Charles, who guest edited editions in 2013 and 2018. Princess Anne took the role in 2020, followed by Queen Camilla in 2022. In fact, Camilla’s edition became the magazine’s biggest-selling issue.
Kate Middleton photographed her cover portrait in the garden of Camilla’s Wiltshire home. Later, the Queen recalled the session as “very relaxed” and said they “had a lot of fun.” Separately, David Beckham guest edited the October 2025 edition.
