Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Commonwealth Rumors Have Fans Saying ‘No Way’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Commonwealth rumors have got netizens talking. A report claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might lead the next Commonwealth. Although they are not considered royals, it was said that King Charles might give the couple a chance. Meanwhile, fans reacted to the rumor on social media, saying, “No way.”

Fans challenge the idea of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle allegedly taking over a Commonwealth role

Royal fans do not believe the rumors about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle taking over a Commonwealth role. The story began after The Daily Mail cited a Private Eye magazine report. They reportedly stated that Prince William has shown “little interest” in taking up the role of the Commonwealth Heads of Government.

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, King Charles was formally appointed head of the Commonwealth by member leaders. However, with reports questioning whether Prince William intends to take on the demanding global post, speculation quickly circulated that Harry and Meghan could be considered. Private Eye claimed recent diplomatic gatherings sparked informal discussions regarding whether the Sussexes could assume greater international duties.

For those unfamiliar, the duo gained support in the past “across sections of the Commonwealth.” But they stepped down as working royals in 2020 and left the US. With this decision, they were also stripped of their roles as president and vice-president of the organization.

Meanwhile, rumors of their return to the Commonwealth have left people talking. Online users have challenged the idea and might not believe any such thing would happen. An X user wrote, “No way. They don’t represent the Royal Family and are private citizens. It’s not William’s fault if the Government doesn’t plan more trips.”

Another tweeted, “I have been so loyal to the royal family. I admire them. I am a supporter, but if this is true, I am done.” One individual also pointed out how Markle had burned the bridges by calling the Commonwealth “Empire 2.0.”
