A royal expert reflected on how Prince Harry had reassured those around him that he wouldn’t get involved in any engagements during King Charles‘ Caribbean tour. They suggested that, by making such public statements, Harry may have been trying to ease concerns within the Palace and his family that he would not steal the spotlight from important events. This update comes as the monarch completed a nine-day tour, stopping by the Bahamas, Guyana, and Antigua and Barbuda.

In a conversation on Mirror’s Pod Save The King YouTube, royal editor Russell Myers perceived Prince Harry’s reassurance as a way of easing concerns within the royal family. He said, “I do think it was rather interesting that we had to hear from Harry and make those comments about, ‘I’m not going to torpedo my father’s tour.’ It would have been absolutely catastrophic, I suppose, if he had done that. Very, very damaging for relations if they’re trying to move that forward.”
He added that he finds it interesting that the Duke of Sussex needed to say such things publicly. “Is he trying to make these public statements to quell the fears within the Palace and his own family?” Myers questioned. This news comes a few days after Harry’s GQ interview, where he spoke about his sorrow over his strained bond with King Charles and Prince William.
“I think from a family perspective — again, another massively relatable issue for so many people — sibling disagreements, broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent,” he continued. The expert further added that the topic frequently comes up in their conversations with others, highlighting just how widely relatable it is.
He added that there are some people who don’t want to see him improve his bond with his father and brother. However, he believes that this is not the case for him, as he wants to make things right with them.
