Ali Wong is collaborating with Beef creator once again for a new Netflix series. The upcoming show adds another chapter in the pair’s creative partnership under the streamer.
Lee Sung Jin has launched a new production company, Lila Pictures, six months after extending his overall deal with Netflix. As part of the launch, Lee is developing two new projects with Netflix. One of them is a limited series called The Only Child, starring Ali Wong, who previously led his 2023 anthology show Beef.
Wong will play the mother of a professional archer preparing to compete for her first gold medal in The Only Child. The comedian will also serve as a producer on the show. The second project is Citizen’s Arrest, a drama series created by Gene Hong, a producer on Beef. The show will follow two longtime friends and neighbors who become obsessed with solving a local crime.
“I’m excited to launch Lila Pictures with the support of my creative home at Netflix and the help of Hyunji Ward, our new SVP of Film and TV. In Sanskrit, lila can be interpreted as the divine play, and I’m grateful to reflect that through film and television, alongside close friends and collaborators like Ali Wong and Gene Hong,” Lee said in a statement. He further teased, “This is just the beginning. There will also be merch.”
