Daisy Ridley has joined the cast of an upcoming horror film alongside several other notable stars. New details about the production and filming schedule have also emerged.
Get Rid of It is an upcoming road trip horror feature starring Ridley, Sosie Bacon, and Simon Rex. Ry Russo-Young is directing the film from a script by Gemma Holdway. Filming is set to begin at the start of 2027.
Ridley is best known for her breakout role as Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. She will next appear in Ti West’s Christmas horror-thriller Ebenezer opposite Johnny Depp. Her past credits include Murder on the Orient Express, Ophelia, Peter Rabbit, and Young Woman and the Sea.
Bacon stars in the crime series Scarpetta opposite Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. Meanwhile, Rex’s most notable credits include Red Rocket, Blink Twice, Monarch Cove, and more.
What is Daisy Ridley’s new road trip horror movie about?
Get Rid of It follows Harper (Ridley), who has a one-night stand with a mysterious drifter named Miller (Rex). After she gets pregnant, Harper takes off on a cross-country road trip with her sister Jessie (Bacon). However, the trip soon takes a terrifying turn when the siblings realize that the thing growing inside Harper may not be human at all.
“Propulsive and playful, this project’s strength is its compelling point of view and heart beneath the horror,” director Russo-Young said of the film. “I’m thrilled to bring it to life with such an extraordinary and gifted group of collaborators.”
Russo-Young has previously helmed the sci-fi teen thriller Before I Fall starring Zoey Deutch and the coming-of-age drama The Sun is Also A Star with Charles Melton. She has also directed two episodes of the Apple TV series Shrinking.
Get Rid of It is being produced by David Lancaster, who has previously produced multiple critically acclaimed movies. His credits include Whiplash, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, and Jake Gyllenhaal’s satirical psychological thriller Nightcrawler.
