50 Cent appeared in court via Zoom on Tuesday, November 3, amid his ongoing legal dispute with Tia Kemp. The hearing made little progress as the rapper sought to address alleged comments about his teenage son.
50 Cent discusses lawsuit involving his son
According to TMZ, the hearing concerned an injunction 50 Cent sought against Kemp, who shares a child with rapper Rick Ross. He wants to stop her from making allegedly harassing comments about his 14-year-old son on social media. However, she did not attend the hearing, which ended without significant progress.
The court reportedly could not consider a permanent injunction because authorities had not yet served Kemp. The rapper’s legal team claimed she was “purposefully ducking the service.” The unresolved service issue prevented the court from moving forward.
During the hearing, 50 Cent briefly explained to the judge why he was continuing the case. He reportedly said he “doesn’t even really want to pursue this matter further” but “doesn’t really feel he has much of a choice.”
His remarks explained why he remains involved despite his reluctance. The dispute goes beyond a disagreement between the adults, as the rapper seeks legal protection for his son against allegedly harmful comments.
50 Cent filed the suit after accusing Kemp of making hurtful comments about his son online. According to the filing, she allegedly called the teenager “slow” and claimed he was “on the autism spectrum.” The rapper subsequently sought an injunction to stop the alleged harassment.
Kemp did not address the allegations at Tuesday’s hearing because she was absent. TMZ did not establish why authorities had yet to serve her.
According to TMZ, the court will hold another hearing on December 7. Until then, the request for a permanent injunction remains unresolved.
