Following her return to action films with Back in Action, Cameron Diaz is preparing to headline another Netflix release. Her next project, Bad Day, brings her back to the streaming platform in a new action comedy scheduled for December. However, this time she will be taking on the lead role without her Back in Action co-star Jamie Foxx.
Cameron Diaz’s Bad Day arrives next month on Netflix
Cameron Diaz is set to return to Netflix with Bad Day, an action comedy arriving on December 11, 2026. The film gives the actress another leading role in the genre after her appearance in Back in Action in 2025. Unlike that earlier release, which paired her with Jamie Foxx, the upcoming movie will center on Diaz in a story about a mother trying to make good on a promise to her daughter while facing an increasingly difficult day.
The film is directed by Jake Szymanski, whose previous work includes Jury Duty. Laura Solon wrote the screenplay and will also serve as an executive producer. The film’s cast includes Danielle Brooks, Rhenzy Feliz, John Higgins, Mark Duplass, Jessica Belkin, Ed O’Neill, Rob Corddry, Ayden Mayeri, Ben Schwartz, Retta, Emma Pearson, P.J. Byrne, Sherry Cola, Edi Patterson and Beck Bennett alongside Diaz.
Beau Bauman is producing the film through Good One Productions, with Mark Moran serving as an executive producer. The December release will be Diaz’s next major Netflix project after Back in Action, which debuted in January 2025 and remained in the platform’s Top 10 for six consecutive weeks.
In Back in Action, Diaz portrayed Emily Reynolds, a former CIA operative who had left her career in espionage behind to raise a family in suburban Atlanta. The action comedy marked her return to the screen following a decade-long break. Bad Day brings her back to the genre as a single mother with a different premise and a new ensemble cast.
