Prince William’s Son George Finds Comfort Leaning on Dad’s Shoulder at Camp Nou

A quiet moment in the stands between a father and son has royal watchers talking. Prince George, 13, was photographed resting against his father, Prince William, 44, during a Champions League night in Spain. The pair watched the game at Camp Nou for the fixture, a rare public outing since the young prince started boarding school at Eton. While the scoreline did not go their way, the picture from the stands is the one people keep sharing.

Prince William used George’s half-term break from Eton College to take him to Barcelona. The pair were there to cheer on Aston Villa in their Champions League away tie at the Spotify Camp Nou.

FC Barcelona welcomed them on social media, saying the club was “honoured to welcome” the royal guests. The photo showed William in a navy blazer over a crewneck sweater, standing beside Joan Laporta, President of FC Barcelona. In images from the stadium, George wore a black athletic jacket with the Aston Villa crest.

The pair sat in the front row of their box, even as rain fell over the stadium. Unfortunately for the Prince of Wales, Barcelona won 3-0. Pictures from the match show George looking tired as he leans on his father’s shoulder. Royal News Network shared the image on X, noting that the 13-year-old “still leans on Dad” even though he is a teenager now.

Prince William’s loyalty to Villa runs deep. During his recent appearance on “The Graham Norton Show”, he told the host that childhood friends “got me into Aston Villa.” His other kids, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, did not attend the match, and neither did Princess Catherine.

The photograph has drawn warm responses online. One user noted, “huge props to [William] and [Catherine] for raising a preteen boy who’s comfortable showing affection to his dad like this.” Others gushed at the pair making memories as any father and son would.
