Video Shows Burglar Trying to Hide Firearm From Cops in a Very Silly Way

Some criminals think that the cops must be dumb not to notice when they’re doing something suspicious. That’s what one burglar thought when he was caught by deputies in Nevada and tried to conceal his firearm in an embarrassing way. Suffice it to say, the cops weren’t fooled by what the man did, and now he faces a lengthy list of charges.

Man falls into a bush on purpose in front of the cops

Over the Halloween weekend, deputies arrested a man, later identified as 30-year-old Nicholas Smith, after he was caught trying to steal a vehicle at a residence in Spanish Springs, according to a post by the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.

The sheriff’s office says Smith was caught and chased off by a resident, but then he was later observed at a separate property, going over a backyard fence as he fled from the scene. Deputies responded to a report of the incident and searched the surrounding area, eventually discovering a suspicious man walking near W. Calle De La Plata and Spruce Meadows Drive.

The video shows a patrol car stopping in front of Smith, with the man being clearly caught within the vehicle’s headlights. That’s when the suspect reached into his pockets and awkwardly stepped backward and approached a large bush as a deputy closed in on him.

The deputy orders the man to take his hand out of his pocket, but instead he falls into the bush in an embarrassingly obvious way. At gunpoint, the man is told to empty his pockets once again and he finally complies, kneeling on the sidewalk so that deputies can place him in handcuffs. The deputies then recover the firearm Smith tried to discard in the bush.

Smith was arrested on multiple charges that include carrying a concealed firearm without a permit, attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, possession of a firearm under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance, and possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription.

Inmate records show that Nicholas Kasey Smith was booked on November 1 and is being held on $11,000 bond. It also shows an additional charge of making a false statement to, or obstructing, a police officer.
