James Blunt and Romesh Ranganathan have attracted attention following a dramatic elimination on “The Celebrity Traitors.” Romesh helped eliminate the singer during the show’s End Game, sparking speculation about a possible feud. However, the comedian has now clarified that their friendship remains intact.
Romesh Ranganathan says the pair remain friends despite the elimination
During an appearance on The One Show, Romesh discussed his decision to vote out James. He admitted feeling guilty about how the elimination unfolded.
“I feel really bad about that, and it’s gonna stay with me for a long time, what happened,” he explained.
The comedian also clarified that their friendship remained unaffected.
“I just wanna get this out in the open, James Blunt and I are friends, OK? It’s all good,” Romesh said.
However, he revealed that James had sent him a rather intimidating message.
“Although he did text me the other day saying, ‘I know where you live’,” he added.
The message appeared to be a playful response to the elimination. Romesh had previously joked about being frightened of the singer, referencing his military background.
Romesh also explained what led to James’ elimination. He said fellow contestant Sebastian Croft, nicknamed Bash, had convinced him that the singer was a Faithful.
“And I trusted Bash, and we were like, ‘Let’s end the game,'” he recalled.
However, James decided to continue the game, prompting another banishment. Romesh and Bash subsequently voted him out, despite all three being Faithfuls.
The two went on to win the competition, securing a combined £83,000 for their respective charities. James, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to win money for his chosen cause.
The elimination became one of the most talked-about moments of the show’s intense second season. Another memorable moment involved James Acaster’s unexpected confession that he was a Traitor.
Romesh previously addressed the situation on the show’s spin-off, “Uncloaked.”
“James Blunt, at some point in the future, will kill me,” he joked.
He also admitted worrying about the singer’s fans.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God, all the James Blunt fans are gonna hate me,'” Romesh said.
Despite the tension during the finale, his latest comments confirm that he and James remain friends.
