Donald Trump’s Lincoln Memorial event draws attention from late-night television
Jimmy Kimmel often pokes fun at Donald Trump during his late-night show. He kicked off his monologue before the midterm election.
He said, “He’s got a hefty bag full of frivolous lawsuits out there trying to protect himself against the blue wave, which seems to be headed his way tomorrow. Tomorrow is midterm election day. Hopefully you’re registered to vote; hopefully you will vote.”
Kimmel addressed Trump’s final rally on Wednesday, where he spoke to the crowd in front of the newly reopened Reflecting Pool.
Kimmel said, “Trump made his closing argument today. He chose to do that in front of his ill-fated reflecting pool. And where better to reassure the public that they are in good hands than in front of a pool you’ve repeatedly botched to the tune of $16 million?” (via The Mirror)
He added Trump promised to “drain the swamp” and took his own manmade swamp, standing in front of the pool. He also played a clip of Trump, who was saying this is a massive pool and there has never been anything.
Kimmel said, “He’s right. It is indeed a massive piece of pool when you look at the size. I don’t know, maybe they’ll give him the Nobel Piece-of-Pool Prize.”
Kimmel added, Trump addressed people and blamed Joe Biden and Barack Obama for whatever happened to the pool, and that Trump is considering renaming the pool after himself.
“He ranted about grass and topsoil and his construction projects and the ballroom, James Comey, rusty pipes; he had visual aids, and then he stripped down to his diapers and did a pretty impressive cannonball right in the shallow end of the thing. You know what? He’s a terrible president, but as a comedian I have to respect his commitment to that bit,” said Kimmel. His remarks add another political satire on Trump to his late-night show.
