Melania Trump reportedly did not attend the Halloween party Donald Trump hosted at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, November 1. The president held the event at his private club in Palm Beach, Florida, where guests gathered for a jungle-themed celebration. While Trump took part in the evening’s festivities, the First Lady was not seen at the gathering. As of now, no official explanation has been made public regarding her reported absence.
Her reported decision not to attend came shortly after she had joined her husband at the White House on Thursday, October 30, to welcome children celebrating Halloween. The couple appeared together for that occasion, but Melania was absent from the separate event at Mar-a-Lago, which took place three days before the midterm elections.
Mar-a-Lago’s ballroom was decorated for the occasion, with guests arriving in costumes inspired by wildlife. Photographs from the celebration showed attendees dressed as tropical birds, leopards and cheetahs. However, the president attended in a dark suit, white shirt, and red tie. He talked about the effort guests had put into their appearances, saying, “Look at all my rich members. They spent all day getting ready. Look at these guys.”
Asked what he had chosen to wear for Halloween, Trump said he had come dressed as himself. Speaking to The Washington Post, he explained, “I didn’t have time to get — people spend a lot of time and money, rich people, they spend nine hours getting ready. I had 10 minutes, so I came as Donald Trump.”
