Columnist analyzes Meghan Markle’s fractured relationship with Netflix

Carole Malone, the columnist at Express and “Royals Unscripted” co-star, reportedly believes that the relationship between Meghan Markle and Netflix has strained. Markle was reportedly rumored to be playing a role in Season 2 of Netflix’s series “The Gentlemen.” However, the show’s creator, Guy Ritchie, later dismissed the speculation, saying, “Not a chance.”

Last week, a report suggested that the incident had left the Sussex camp disappointed. Some people within her camp allegedly felt that Markle’s name had been used for promotional purposes. They allegedly called it “the oldest marketing trick in the book.”

Later, a source close to the production told The Times that the show did not need any “stunt casting” to attract attention. Amid the speculation, Carole Malone, an Express columnist, weighed in on the situation. She said that when the story first broke about Markle potentially appearing in the series, Team Sussex did not deny the rumors. The columnist added that the prospect seemed beneficial to the former actor.

However, Netflix’s reported decision not to defend Markle, while a source close to the production backed Ritchie’s position, led Malone to believe that the relationship between the streaming giant and the Duchess of Sussex had become strained. According to the columnist, if Netflix were planning to launch projects with Markle, the platform would have publicly defended her and cleared her name. She suggested that its response left their professional relationship in question.
