A family-friendly kitchen shoot is taking Meghan Markle back to Australia for her new stint on MasterChef. Yet one question is reportedly causing debate at home, with her and Prince Harry said to be disagreeing over whether their children should join her on set.
Prince Harry is against their kids making a possible TV cameo on MasterChef Australia, per source
Meghan, 45, will appear on Junior MasterChef Australia as a special guest alongside host Poh Ling Yeow, following her cameo on the main 2026 series. Filming is expected in Melbourne around May next year, once the main series wraps. The shoot would last about three weeks and would coincide with school holidays for Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5.
A family insider told New Idea that the children are keen on accompanying her. “There’s no doubt Archie, but especially Lili, would dearly love to participate,” the insider said. The same source described the pair as fond of “making a mess with mum in the kitchen.”
Still, the insider suggested the idea faces a hurdle. “It’s Harry who’s against the kids going on mum’s show,” the source said, adding that there has been talk of using them in a blindfold test.
According to the outlet, Prince Harry has always shielded his children from television, shaped by his own childhood in the spotlight. A long-time friend added, “Harry has long argued for keeping Archie and Lilibet out of the public eye.” The insider also said a sudden shift would be “an extraordinary U-turn.”
Meghan has also referred to her kids in her statement about the new role. “I love cooking with my own kids, so seeing what these young stars create in the kitchen is going to be a lot of fun,” she said. Prince Harry has also made one appearance in the franchise. During Meghan’s 2026 episode, producers announced a FaceTime call, and he interacted with the contestants.
For now, whether Archie and Lilibet will feature in the show remains unconfirmed.
