James Gunn Raises New Questions About Margot Robbie’s DC Future

Margot Robbie became one of DC’s most recognizable faces thanks to her role as Harley Quinn. However, DC’s recent reboot has raised questions about whether the actress will reprise the role. James Gunn recently addressed the situation, raising new questions about Robbie’s future in the DC Universe.

James Gunn isn’t sure whether Margot Robbie wants to play Harley Quinn again

The CEO recently appeared on The Suicide Squad: Is It Canon? The Official Podcast, where he discussed DC movies, the reboot, and several other topics. He also addressed Harley Quinn’s future in the franchise. Gunn admitted that he was unsure whether Robbie wanted to reprise the role.

Gunn said, “She’s just so crazy. I love her as Harley. I don’t know if she wants to play Harley again. She may be over that.”

“I’d say, we have one small asterisk, which is what exactly is the future of Harley Quinn? I want to be given a little leeway with this by the fans because I’m not sure exactly how that’s going to manifest itself,” he added.

Gunn continued, “But other than that, I think that we can pretty much say the entire movie is canon. I don’t think there’s a problem.”

The Australian actress has not publicly confirmed whether she intends to return to the role. However, she previously expressed interest in seeing other actresses take on the character as well. Robbie has portrayed Harley Quinn in three DC films: Suicide Squad (2016), Birds of Prey (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021).

The 36-year-old actress also has several upcoming projects. Alongside her acting commitments, Robbie continues to produce films through her company, LuckyChap Entertainment.
