James Acaster has become an unlikely heartthrob on Celebrity Traitors
James Acaster admitted to being a Traitor during the October 29 episode of Celebrity Traitors. According to The Standard, he said, “I was made a Traitor without wanting to be. It’s me. Vote for me.” His confession quickly earned him praise from fans online.
One user said, “Just when I thought I couldn’t love James Acaster any more.” Another X user commented, “Wow #JamesAcaster national treasure. What a moment that was. He’s a beautiful soul, I’m really proud of him and cannot wait for the final episode of #TheCelebrityTraitors – it’s phenomenal telly innit ???.” One user wrote, “We ride at dawn for James A.”
During a recent podcast appearance, Acaster reflected on his unexpected popularity. He recalled spending lockdown assuming it was “over for me, no one’s ever going to fancy me again.” He described becoming the internet’s heartthrob as “quite a nice turn of events”.
Acaster’s confession also helped the Faithful contestants identify and eliminate a Traitor. The comedian admitted his identity at the roundtable before the contestants voted to banish him.
According to The Independent, comedian Pierre Novelie, who appeared on the Off Menu podcast, praised Acaster’s career achievements.
He said, “There’s also the five consecutive Perrier nominations at the Fringe, releasing multiple interlocking Netflix series simultaneously, huge tours and all while staying off social media, widely considered impossible if you didn’t get famous by 2012. He looms over millennial comedy like an indie colossus.”
Despite his elimination, Acaster continues to attract attention. The comedian has been promoting Celebrity Traitors and his upcoming stand-up special.
The Celebrity Traitors finale will air on BBC One on Friday, October 30. The remaining contestants include two Traitors, Maya Jama and King Kenny. Although Acaster will not compete in the finale, his confession has become one of the season’s most talked-about moments.
