Macaulay Culkin’s Big Plans for ‘Home Alone’ Fans Take Sudden Turn

Fans hoping to see Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin in Australia will have to change their plans. His sold-out Australian tour has been cancelled just weeks before the scheduled screenings in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.

Macaulay’s Home Alone events in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane are cancelled

In a statement to Variety Australia, the actor’s team said scheduling conflicts led to the cancellation. The team said, “Due to a scheduling conflict, A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin following a screening of ‘Home Alone’ has been cancelled. Refunds will be automatically issued at the point of purchase. We apologise for any inconvenience.”

The Australian tour was set to feature screenings of Culkin’s classic Christmas film, followed by a moderated live interview with fans. Fans who purchased the VIP Meet and Greet Package would have had the chance to meet Culkin in person and take a photo with him. The VIP experience started at $399. Meanwhile, General Admission tickets were available for prices ranging from $106 to $179.

The 46-year-old was scheduled to kick off the events at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on November 24. He was then expected at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on November 27 and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on November 29 and 30.

The organisers of the Sydney shows, Ticketek, have advised attendees to look out for an email with more details. They confirmed, “All tickets purchased (including refundable ticket purchases, VIP upgrades, parking and bar vouchers, if relevant) will be automatically refunded in full to the original payment method used”.

Culkin became a household name at the age of 10 for his role as Kevin McCallister in the 1990 film. The film also starred Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, and the late John Heard and Catherine O’Hara, who played his on-screen parents. Culkin also starred in the sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992.
