Erling Haaland has drawn a hilarious comparison to the Home Alone franchise in a social media post. The Manchester City striker shared a series of side-by-side images highlighting his resemblance to characters from the beloved Christmas comedy films.
On October 29, Haaland shared two images on his X account comparing himself to two Home Alone characters, captioning the post, “Can’t unsee it now.” In the first image, he wears a black beanie and gray coat, drawing a comparison to Daniel Stern, who portrayed Marv Merchants in the original movie.
In the second image, Haaland poses with a shocked expression, recreating Macaulay Culkin’s iconic aftershave scene as Kevin McCallister. The post adds another unexpected pop culture reference to the footballer’s social media presence.
The post has since drawn plenty of reactions from fans in the comments. For instance, @0b00emma wrote, “Bruh you are so hilarious and open-minded. Keep doing you. The world loves you, Erling!”
While, @_AsiwajuLerry added, “If this guy wasn’t a professional footballer, he’d definitely be a comedian.” Since the post was made right before Halloween, user @ClearedForRise joked, “Right weekend you come dressed as Marv with baby powder no excuses.”
Haaland isn’t the only celebrity to bring Home Alone back into the spotlight recently
This year, the Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney also brought the 1990 Christmas comedy Home Alone to life, besides Haaland. However, this was done for a promotional campaign for her lingerie brand, Syrn.
Just like Haaland, in the promotional images, Sweeney recreated the iconic aftershave scene. Another image shows her enjoying a bowl of ice cream, mirroring Kevin’s scene in the movie. Referencing a home invasion scene, Sweeney recreated another scene with a dog in her arms.
Syrn shared the images on social media to promote early access to its holiday collection, Hibernation Nation. Alongside the Home Alone-inspired photos, the campaign also featured looks inspired by How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
