King Charles embarked on his Caribbean tour this week, but he wasn’t accompanied by Queen Camilla. It’s been learned that the Queen will join him in Antigua and Barbuda during the final stage of the tour. However, many believe that there’s a reason that she’s not there for the entire tour, and it’s said to be her fear of flying.
Queen Camilla misses two stops in King Charles’ tour for a reason
On Tuesday, King Charles arrived in the Bahamas, appearing to be in good spirits. While he and Camilla usually undertake tours together, there have been several occasions when she has been absent. Although no official reason has been given for her absence this time, several reports have pointed to her fear of flying. She’s reportedly an anxious flyer who doesn’t want to switch between a lot of planes during the tour.
Therefore, many believe that she might only show up toward the end of the tour, as she would then only have to take one flight to Antigua and Barbuda. This will ensure that she doesn’t have to take short-distance or connecting flights between destinations. During these flights, the aircraft may be smaller, which could cause her anxiety. Thus, she may have decided to avoid multiple stops and attend just one.
Queen Camilla hasn’t officially addressed or confirmed her fear of flying, but a Clarence House spokesman earlier did. “The Duchess does not like flying, but I think she sometimes has to embrace that fear and get on with it,” they added. They said that this fear is such that she has to face it consistently and accept it.
This tour also comes a few days after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Nottingham visit, which marked their first public outing together. They returned to the UK in August 2026, over a month after their reunion with the monarch.
