Nelly recalls the unusual way Taylor Swift arranged his Houston concert appearance
During their appearance on The Breakfast Club, Nelly and his wife Ashanti reflected on their relationship with Taylor Swift. The 51-year-old rapper disclosed how $50,000 in cash, a private jet, and a McDonald’s bag got involved in his friendship with Swift once.
The singer of “Just a Dream” recalled receiving an unexpected call from her. She wanted him to perform Hot in Herre during one of her Houston concerts. According to him, she and her friends had been practicing a dance routine to the 2002 hit, and she wanted him to perform. The only problem was that she allegedly did not have the budget to afford the rapper at the time.
Nelly recalled her saying, “I don’t really have a budget like that.” She offered him $50,000 in cash, private transportation, and accommodations instead. He accepted the offer and made an unlikely request: “Can you put that in a McDonald’s bag?”
Swift kept her promise by sending a G5 to fly him and his children from St. Louis to Houston, where she had arranged for them to stay in a presidential suite. When he reached the stadium, someone from her team handed him a McDonald’s bag containing $50,000 in cash.
“But I would’ve did it for free,” Nelly said. The rapper said the All Too Well singer also previously joined him on stage to perform Dilemma.
During their joint appearance on the October 21 segment of Good Day New York, Ashanti and Nelly reflected on Swift’s wedding to Kelce. “It was amazing! It looked so beautiful inside, like it was like a real garden. Like, it was so magical. It was beautiful,” Ashanti said. Nelly agreed, saying, “It was great.”
