Paris Hilton has responded to criticism over her family’s Halloween costumes. She explained that her daughter chose to dress as Chip while Hilton played Belle. However, the online discussion also involved confusion over which character the toddler portrayed.
Paris Hilton defends family’s Halloween costume after backlash
Paris Hilton says her daughter London “wanted to dress up as Chip” from Beauty and the Beast. According to InTouch, Hilton shared photos of her family on October 26. She wore a yellow ballgown as Belle, while her husband, Carter Reum, dressed as the Beast. Their son, Phoenix, was Lumière, and London was Chip. Hilton captioned the post, “My life is a fairytale, and the magic never ends.”
Some accused Hilton of stealing the spotlight from her kids. In a video, a creator named Ashley claimed there was “discourse” on Twitter. She said that people criticized Hilton for being the princess while her daughter was Mrs. Potts. However, the creator insisted that the costume is Chip, not Mrs. Potts. She said that you only need “two working eyeballs” to see it. She also praised the film and the character of Mrs. Potts. The video was captioned, “Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who cares about facts around here.”
Hilton addressed the criticism in a comment on the creator’s video. “Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies,” she wrote. “London said she wanted to dress up as Chip.” She added that London said it was “her favorite character in the movie.”
Fans seemingly backed her. One said that if her husband is the Beast, it makes sense for her to be Belle. Another argued that the kids being side characters makes sense because “they’re the kids.” A third claimed that “no matter WHAT Paris does,” someone will find a problem with it.
