Fans of The Terminal List have another chapter to look forward to, although the franchise’s next major release has a huge catch. The action universe created by Jack Carr continues to expand, but television viewers still have no official confirmation regarding the main series’ long-term future.
New The Terminal List book to arrive next year
The Terminal List will arrive in print rather than as a new season of the Prime Video series. The next book, State of Exile, will now arrive on October 1, 2027, after its original May 11 release date was moved back by several months.
The novel will become the eighth entry in Carr’s series. Carr also plays a major role in bringing the franchise to television alongside Chris Pratt, who leads the show as James Reece (via Collider).
Fans have already endured a lengthy wait between installments. The Terminal List premiered in 2022, the same year Prime Video introduced Alan Ritchson’s Reacher. Since then, the rival action series has added three more seasons, whereas The Terminal List needed four years to deliver its second installment.
Season 1 pulled in a modest 42% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, yet audiences gave it 94%. Season 2 climbed to 60%, while fans continue to show love with a rating of around 90%.
The series’ future will likely depend on how fans respond to its latest batch of episodes. Amazon has yet to confirm a third season, and any potential renewal could face hurdles tied to the expense and time required to produce the show.
For now, there is no official word on further episodes, although the second season’s recent debut leaves room for renewal talks.
A potential continuation would not leave the writers short of material. Jack Carr’s collection of novels offers several paths for the show to explore if Amazon approves another season. David DiGilio leads the series as showrunner, with directing credits across its run shared by Fred Toye, Sylvain White, Antoine Fuqua, Ellen Kuras and M.J. Bassett.
