Prince William’s Royal Future May Not Have Been His First Choice — Source

Prince William may have pursued a non-royal career path. It is no secret that the Prince of Wales is preparing to be the future king of the British monarchy after his father, King Charles’ reign ends. However, his latest TV appearance on The Graham Norton Show has sparked speculation that William may have wanted to do something else altogether, just like his younger brother, Prince Harry.

Prince William seemingly insinuated on The Graham Norton Show that he would have become a policeman or DJ if not for a royal heir. Norton asked the Prince of Wales: “As a child, you have been born into your job. As a child, did you fantasise about doing other things? Did you kind of think, ‘When I grow up, I might not be king, I will do this?’”

William replied: “Yes, I’m roughly trying to think what I can say on television. I did want to be a policeman when I was younger – I thought I could make a good policeman.”

Norton immediately responded, stating matter-of-factly that the future king is indeed tall. William agreed as the other guests and the in-house audience laughed, enjoying the conversation. Australian conservationist Robert Irwin jumped in and cheekily commented: “There’s a bit more to it than that, mate.” However, the talk show host continued flattering the future king, stating that he thinks William would look good in the uniform and the hat.

The Prince of Wales then pivoted the conversation to his other childhood dream, which was to become a DJ. He clarified that “it didn’t go very well.” William stated: “I came up with a name, I was called DJ Xara with an X. It wasn’t good.”

As he explained his DJ name to Cate Blanchett, he jokingly remarked: “It rapidly became very uncool.” Norton further asked the Prince if he DJed at school parties, to which William replied, “No, I didn’t, I never got that good.”
