A man has been charged in the death of Antoine de Massy, a 29-year-old relative of Monaco’s Prince Albert II. The 42-year-old has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and failure to assist a person in danger.

As reported by TMZ, the suspect is a Ukrainian national who has stayed in Monaco for approximately 30 years. He appeared before the judge on Wednesday in connection to the case.
According to local outlet News.mc, the suspect denied the allegations during police questioning. He later declined to answer the investigating judge’s questions. As of now, he is remanded in custody and remains innocent as court proceedings continue.
Monaco’s Prosecutor General, Stéphane Thibault, said the alleged offences “may have been committed at different times.” Investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding Massey’s death. They are at present following up on “the precise sequence of events that led to Antoine de Massy’s fall.”
De Massy was found dead in a park in Monaco on October 25. He was the grandson of Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of Prince Rainier III, making him a relative of Prince Albert II.
Following his death, Prince Albert II and his wife, Princess Charlène, expressed their condolences to the family. In a statement released by the Prince’s Palace on October 26, the couple said: “Their Serene Highnesses Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène were saddened to learn of the death of Antoine de Massy, aged 29, the grandson of Princess Antoinette, the elder sister of Prince Rainier III.”
The statement also mentioned de Massy’s penchant for tennis, a sport closely associated with Monaco’s royal family. The Prince and Princess added: “Their Highnesses share in the grief of his family and loved ones and offer them their sincere condolences at this painful time.”
The investigation remains ongoing as investigators delve deeper into the details that led up to Massy’s death.
