Prince William sends congratulatory message to Harry Kane

Prince William has personally congratulated Harry Kane following his win of one of football’s most coveted honors. The ex-Tottenham Hotspur striker won the Ballon d’Or on Monday evening, ending England’s 25-year drought for the trophy.

In his speech at London’s Palladium Theatre, Kane expressed heartfelt gratitude to his wife, Katie Goodland. Taking to the stage, he said, “Being in London, it is extra special; it felt like a good omen. Thank you to everyone who voted for me. I can imagine it was tough, so thank you.”

William lauded the 33-year-old’s “fantastic achievement” in a post shared on Instagram. Taking to the Instagram Stories of the Prince and Princess of Wales account, the royal heir wrote, “Huge congratulations to Harry Kane on winning the Ballon d’Or! What a fantastic achievement and so deserved. A brilliant captain, a remarkable player and someone who has given football fans across the world so many unforgettable moments” (via HELLO!).

The 44-year-old prince concluded the message by signing off with “W,” his personal initial. Getting in on the celebrations, he also reposted England’s official tribute post that read, “The best player in the world. Our 2026 Ballon d’Or winner: HARRY KANE.”

William has been a devoted Aston Villa supporter since childhood. He has since passed on his passion for the sport to his son, Prince George, with the pair frequently attending matches together both at home and abroad.

Most recently, he was present at Villa Park in Birmingham on October 14 for Aston Villa’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Fenerbahçe SK. The home team sealed an emphatic 6-0 victory in style. The Prince of Wales lit up the stands as he witnessed the stunning victory, jumping up and cheering loudly after the opening goal.
