Mckenna Grace‘s attempt to pose for a photo with Spider-Man in Times Square didn’t go as planned. The Captain Marvel actress quickly changed her mind after learning how much it would cost to include King Kong in the photo.
In a viral video, Grace approached a performer dressed as Spider-Man to arrange a photo. She then asked whether King Kong could join them, but the answer caught her off guard. The conversation ended with Grace dropping the idea of including King Kong in her picture.
“I got to pay how much? A $100 for King Kong? Alright, King Kong. Never mind,” she responded.
McKenna Grace’s Times Square Appearance Was Part of the Upcoming Hunger Games Movie Promotions
Grace visited Times Square on October 26 as part of the promotional campaign for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The event took place at Duffy Square, where visitors could experience the film’s world through an augmented-reality activation. Visitors could use a custom Snapchat lens and see their images displayed on the giant Duffy’s Duo billboard.
The event promoted the sixth film in the franchise, based on Suzanne Collins’ 2025 novel. Set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, the story follows a young Haymitch Abernathy as he competes in the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.
Grace plays Maysilee Donner, a District 12 tribute who competes in the deadly games. Her character is also connected to the Mockingjay pin that later becomes important to Katniss’s story. The cast includes Joseph Zada as young Haymitch, along with other actors joining the franchise.
Other cast members in the upcoming Hunger Games film include Jesse Plemons, Ralph Fiennes, Glenn Close, Ben Wang, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Maya Hawke, Whitney Peak, and Kelvin Harrison Jr.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 20, 2026.
