Nick Carter’s Defense Gets New Testimony in Sexual Assault Case

New testimony has renewed attention on the legal battle between Nick Carter and Melissa Schuman. Several people who worked with Schuman on a 2003 film have given testimony in depositions. Their statements describe what they observed while working with the singer and actress. Carter continues to deny Schuman’s allegations as the legal battle unfolds.

Former film colleagues testify about Melissa Schuman’s behavior on set

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Carter’s legal team questioned people who worked on The Hollow. Film producer Daniel Levin testified that he observed Schuman interacting with Carter during filming. He said he didn’t see “fear, distress, avoidance, or behavioral changes” that would indicate an assault. Levin also said the crew would have acted quickly if someone had reported such an allegation.

Schuman has accused Carter of sexually assaulting her at an apartment in Santa Monica, California. The alleged incident occurred while they were working on the film. Carter strongly denies the claim and says their encounter was consensual. Another witness, Nils Larsen, also gave testimony in the case. Larsen, Schuman’s former manager, addressed her claim that she had told him about the alleged assault.

Schuman has said Larsen discouraged her from going to the police after she told him about the incident. However, Larsen disputed her account during his testimony. He said Schuman never told him about an alleged assault and only mentioned having a crush on Carter. Larsen also testified that he saw the pair on the film set and thought everything seemed fine.

TMZ also reported that Schuman claimed she told actress Kaley Cuoco about the alleged assault. Cuoco appeared in The Hollow, but the report said she did not appear to have given a deposition in the case. The latest testimony forms part of Carter’s legal team’s efforts to challenge Schuman’s allegations. Carter continues to deny any wrongdoing.
