It’s important for people to know where they can park their car, because some neighborhoods have limited space. However, a man in New Jersey didn’t get the memo and decided to park a truck in a place likely without knowing that it was someone else’s paid parking spot. It wasn’t until the following morning that he learned his lesson and realized the mistake he made.
Neighbor gets blocked in after stealing person’s parking spot
On October 23, a man driving a white truck got blocked in after he parked in someone else’s rented space, as seen in a video posted by TikTok user Alison Gerver (@propertiesbyagerver).
The video shows the “neighbor” attempting to get out of the parking spot in Jersey City by driving around Gerver’s dark-colored car, but soon realizing that he’s stuck. That’s when Gerver said she walked outside and introduced herself to the driver.
According to the post, Gerver had gotten home late the night prior at around 10:15 when she found someone parked in the driveway that she rents on a monthly basis. And so she decided to block his truck intentionally with her car.
In one of the comments on the video, Gerver says she has rented that spot for 3 years, despite it looking like the parking space is in front of an abandoned house (she says it wasn’t abandoned but that there was a fire there a year ago), and that the man apparently lives on the block. She says there’s also an “unauthorized vehicles will be towed” sign.
At the time, she tried to call a tow company to move the truck, but they said that police needed to authorize the tow. So she called the cops and waited for them to show up for 45 minutes, though she ultimately went to bed so she could deal with the situation the following morning.
On October 27, Gerver posted an update to show that the driver has since “found” another spot, though it appears as though he may have parked in another illegal space.
