FX just dropped a major production update for Elizabeth Olsen’s highly anticipated new series with a Penguin star. The network confirmed exactly when filming will officially kick off on the mysterious ensemble family drama after months of anticipation.
Seven Sisters to begin production next month
FX’s upcoming family drama Seven Sisters will begin production on November 23 in Vancouver, as reported by Nexus Point News. The shoot will continue through March 5, 2027. Playwright Will Arbery created the series and serves as executive producer.
The show follows a large, close-knit family that begins to unravel. Adrienne starts hearing a voice that only she can detect. As buried family secrets surface, each member develops a new power.
Elizabeth Olsen leads the cast as Adrienne in her return to television. She previously collaborated with director Sean Durkin on the 2011 film Martha Marcy May Marlene. Durkin directed the pilot, which FX originally ordered in March 2025.
The pilot received a full series order in December 2025. Alex Metcalf, known for Mindhunter, joins Arbery and Durkin as executive producer. Garrett Basch, who produced Reservation Dogs, also executive produces the project. Erin Smith serves as producer after working on FX hits Shōgun and Alien: Earth.
Arbery brings television experience from his work on Succession. Anthony Byrne, who directed episodes of Peaky Blinders, will also direct. The ensemble cast features Cristin Milioti, Anthony Edwards, and J. Smith-Cameron. Meredith Hagner, Odessa Young, and Zoë Winters round out the siblings. Philip Ettinger, Ryan Eggold, Bridget Brown, and Carolyn Kettig complete the lineup.
Seven Sisters joins a growing slate of FX projects in active development. Other upcoming titles include Cry Wolf, starring Brie Larson; Disinherited; Legends; and The Marriage Plot. Noah Hawley’s adaptation of Far Cry and Very Young Frankenstein also remain in development at the network.
