The story follows Mercer, a father who wants to rebuild his life and reconnect with his son amid the Los Angeles uprising. His circumstances change when Lowell and his son, Riggin, plan to steal valuable catalytic converters from the factory where Mercer works.

The heist unfolds as unrest spreads across Los Angeles following the Rodney King verdict. As tensions escalate, the robbery takes a dangerous turn, drawing the two families into a conflict fueled by competing interests and the chaos surrounding them.

Gibson plays Mercer, Eastwood portrays Riggin, and Liotta appears as Lowell. The supporting cast includes Clé Bennett, Dylan Arnold, Christopher A’mmanuel, Michael Beasley, Ori Pfeffer, Tosin Morohunfola, and Oleg Taktarov.

Vromen directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Sascha Penn, who also developed the original story. The duo also served as producers alongside Andreas Rommel, Maurice Fadida, and Adam Kolbrenner, while Snoop Dogg served as an executive producer. On Rotten Tomatoes, 1992 holds a 64% Tomatometer score from critics and an 88% Popcornmeter score from audiences.
