Jeremy Renner’s recent social media post sparked speculation about Hawkeye’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, a new insider report suggests the footage Renner filmed may not be for a Marvel movie.
In an October 2026 Q&A published by The Cosmic Circus, insider Alex Perez addressed readers’ questions about Renner’s return and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop.
User @toastef asked, “Jeremy Renner posted an image of some West Coast Avengers comics. Assuming this is teasing Clint Barton’s return, what is in store for him?” @Keke4002 also asked, “Following Jeremy Renner’s recent hint about his potential return as Hawkeye, I wanted to know if you had any information to share about Clint’s future, if there is one. Do you have any information about Kate Bishop’s future in the upcoming Avengers movies and beyond?”
Perez responded, “The things Renner filmed were for Disney Attractions. Kate is Champions-bound.”
Jeremy Renner fans are hoping Hawkeye returns in Avengers: Secret Wars
Jeremy Renner’s post featuring West Coast Avengers comics prompted speculation about a possible Hawkeye return in Avengers: Secret Wars. While fans were hoping that the image teased Clint Barton’s next MCU appearance, Perez’s response suggests that it is not the case.
Clint Barton and Kate Bishop previously teamed up in Marvel Studios’ 2021 Disney+ series, Hawkeye. It introduced Kate as a skilled young archer who idolized Clint and eventually teamed up with him. Their partnership has left fans curious about whether they could reunite in a future MCU project.
Perez’s comment that Kate is “Champions-bound” hints at a possible direction for the character. However, it does not confirm an official Champions project or establish her role in future Marvel films. Marvel Studios has not announced whether Clint will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
For now, Jeremy Renner’s post remains a source of discussion on Hawkeye’s potential return.
