Tensions between Chuck Lorre and Anna Faris have reportedly grown following comments the television producer made about the actress in his memoir. Now, French Stewart has come to the defense of his former Mom co-star, sharing a pointed message about his experience working with Faris and Lorre.
French Stewart fires back at Chuck Lorre for criticizing Anna Faris in his memoir
The 62-year-old actor recently shared a Facebook post praising his former co-star while addressing Lorre’s comments about him in his memoir, Sitcom. Stewart made clear that he was disappointed by Lorre’s remarks about Faris and offered his own perspective on their time working together.
Stewart wrote, “Anna Faris is one of my all time favorite costars. Funny. Kind. Prepared. She delivered on show night. The vast majority of my eight years on Mom was spent working with Anna. She was Mom. The spine of the show. And a legit good person.”
“I was disheartened to see Chuck Lorre throw her under the television bus in his new book. I’ll say this. Whenever I saw Anna- I saw a person working hard to make a good show. Whenever I saw Chuck – I saw a man trying hard not to turn into a werewolf,” he added.
Stewart concluded, “That was my experience. I wouldn’t trade a day working with her.”
In his memoir Sitcom, released in October 2026, Lorre made several claims about Faris and his experience working with her on Mom. He wrote that his initial hesitation about casting Faris in the series had proved justified. However, the actress did not remain silent about his remarks. She addressed them on social media, saying she had read things she never expected to see.
For context, French Stewart is not the only person to defend Faris. Mom star Jaime Pressly, who played Jill Kendall, and actor Justin Long, who appeared as a guest star in the first season, have also publicly supported Faris following Lorre’s comments.
