Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine are among the Marvel characters fans want to see in Avengers: Doomsday. The upcoming MCU film could bring together heroes from different franchises in a major multiverse crossover.
However, a new insider update could disappoint fans anticipating major roles for both characters. Daniel Richtman recently shared a concerning update on X about their expected involvement. He wrote, “It’s a shame the two characters people are most excited to see in Doomsday will only have a small role.”
Although Richtman did not identify the characters, the post has prompted speculation about Spider-Man and Wolverine.

Tobey Maguire became a defining face of superhero cinema after playing Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy. He later returned in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home, joining Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland in a multiverse crossover.
Hugh Jackman has similarly built a lasting legacy as Wolverine. He debuted as the mutant in the 2000 film X-Men and continued to play the character in multiple subsequent films. His appearance in the 2024 film Deadpool & Wolverine marked another major return for the beloved character.
The possibility of both actors appearing in Avengers: Doomsday has fueled speculation, given their long histories with the characters. Bringing them into the same crossover could also expand the connections between Marvel’s earlier film franchises and the current MCU. For Spider-Man, another appearance from Maguire could build on the excitement surrounding the multiverse storyline. Wolverine’s return could similarly reconnect the MCU with the X-Men film universe.
However, the insider’s claim suggests that neither hero may receive a major share of the film’s screen time. If accurate, this could leave fans wanting more from two characters whose returns carry considerable nostalgia. As of now, the report remains unconfirmed, and Marvel Studios has yet to announce either actor’s involvement in Avengers: Doomsday.
