A Prime Video series just crushed nearly every streaming debut this year in under a week. The latest Nielsen charts reveal a surprising new No. 1 with numbers that few shows have matched in 2026.
Carrie tops Nielsen’s streaming charts in first five days
Mike Flanagan’s series adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie debuted as the top overall streaming title on Nielsen’s charts, according to The Wrap. The Prime Video series accumulated 1.26 billion minutes viewed in just five days after its Oct. 7 premiere. Adults aged 18-49 made up 58% of the viewership during the Oct. 5-11 tracking period.
The show stars Summer H. Howell as the titular telepath and Samantha Sloyan as her abusive, overprotective mother. Notably, Carrie now ranks as the second-best Prime Video series debut in Nielsen’s Top 10 this year among first-season shows. It trails only Reacher spinoff Neagley, which gathered 1.8 billion minutes in the same timeframe.
Additionally, the series outperformed several other Prime Video debuts this year. Nicole Kidman-led Scarpetta earned 952 million minutes, while Ride or Die collected 869 million minutes. Spider-Noir then followed closely with 852 million minutes viewed.
Amazon announced Carrie’s Season 2 renewal early Thursday. Meanwhile, Neagley and Scarpetta also secured renewals this year. However, Ride or Die and Spider-Noir were both canceled earlier in 2026. The debut also gave Prime Video its sixth No. 1 overall appearance in the past eight weeks.
Elsewhere on Nielsen’s charts, Netflix’s Canadian monster drama Below debuted to 1.19 billion minutes on Oct. 8. Specifically, Gen X and Millennials accounted for 58% of its audience in the 25-64 demographic. Florence Pugh-led limited series East of Eden then took third place overall with 1.16 billion minutes.
Furthermore, Ted Lasso Season 4 ended its run with 5.5 billion total viewing minutes across 10 weeks. That figure represents a 10% increase over Season 3 at the same episode mark. The Big Bang Theory also held the top acquired title spot for the 13th consecutive week with 812 million minutes on HBO Max.
