Ron Gant bids farewell to Fox 5
The Fox 5 Atlanta team celebrated Gant’s final broadcast on 21st October. His colleagues, including Alyse Eady, Buck Lanford, Joanne Feldman, Alex Whittler and Justina Latimer, joined the farewell.
The station prepared special segments throughout his final morning. The moments covered his transition from baseball to broadcasting. During the emotional farewell, Gant described his retirement as bittersweet. He admitted that leaving his colleagues wouldn’t be easy.
He said, “I’m overwhelmed right now, just doesn’t seem real that it’s actually really happening. But again, and we say bittersweet. And I’ve said bittersweet because the bitter part is I’m going to miss all these guys. I’ve said this before, and it’s not just us delivering the news to all of you out there, this is part of my family now, and they’re always going to be part of my family.”
The anchor continued, “So from the bottom of my heart, I love each and every one of you, all in a different way, because we’ve had different conversations about different things, and it’s just been so pleasant. And you guys have welcomed me with open arms, for sure. We spent more time with each other a lot of times than with our families.”
He also remembered how colleagues helped him during his first year. “So yeah, you know, for us to be able to share a lot of different moments. It’s not just the news, it’s also personal things that go on in our lives.”
Gant further spoke about the support he received from his colleagues during his early years and expressed gratitude. “I want to thank everybody here at Fox Five behind the scenes, because there’s a lot of people to thank, but I want to thank them all for everything they’ve done for me.”
Gant’s decision to retire also comes after a difficult period. His father passed away in 2025. He now wants to spend more time with his family. After 14 years at Fox 5, he’s ready for this new chapter.
