A new Avengers: Doomsday rumor has provided an update on the status of Storm and Jean Grey in the upcoming movie. According to a trusted Marvel insider, it was revealed that Halle Berry and Famke Janssen‘s characters’ cameos may be disappointing to X-Men fans.
During a Q&A session with his Discord and Patreon members, insider Alex Perez was asked if Mystique would shape-shift into Berry’s Storm or Janssen’s Jean Grey to provide fans with cameos in Avengers: Doomsday. In response, Perez said, “At the moment it just seems to be Yelena. It is unlikely to see someone like Storm or Jean in this particular movie, barring any re-used footage for flashbacks.” Marvel has not provided any official statement on this.
The two actresses played their respective characters in the Fox X-Men movies. However, they are not part of the lineup in the upcoming Avengers movie, even though some of their Fox co-stars will reprise their roles. Among these are James Marsden as Scott Summers/Cyclops, Alan Cumming as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Raven Darkholme/Mystique, and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast.
Halle Berry and Famke Janssen aren’t the only X-Men cameo questions surrounding Avengers: Doomsday
Berry and Janssen’s cameos are not the only things fans are questioning ahead of Avengers: Doomsday. During the same Q&A session, a fan questioned whether Tenoch Huerta Mejía’s Namor would be part of Doom’s army. However, the insider denied this by stating, “Namor is not a part of Team Doom in Doomsday.”
Another fan questioned whether the TVA members shown in the Avengers Endgame: Encore post-credit scene would be part of the upcoming movie. Perez replied, “As public rumors stated, some of that TVA crew may return in Doomsday at some point. We’ll have to see.” Along with this, he also suggested that fans consider “checking out Secret Wars (2015) issue #1 for context on what to expect” from the ending of the movie.
Apart from the aforementioned names, the confirmed ensemble includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Tom Hiddleston, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Pedro Pascal, and Vanessa Kirby, among others. The movie will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.
