Fans still know Rupert Grint best for playing Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise. Taking on the role of a young wizard in such a magical world was no small feat, especially at such a young age. But now, the actor is taking on a very different and unusual challenge.
Rupert Grint to voice every character in new Treasure Island audiobook podcast
Harry Potter star Rupert Grint is stepping into the podcasting world with a new serialized audiobook adaptation of Treasure Island. In the Noiser podcast network’s version of Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved 1883 classic, Grint will voice every character himself. In addition, Noiser CEO Pascal Hughes recently discussed the project with The Hollywood Reporter.
Pascal said, “Noiser’s serialised audiobooks now reach over 50 million listens a year, which shows how much appetite there is for great storytelling in this format.”
“Treasure Island is where we bring the whole family in. Rupert is beloved by children and adults alike, and his performance is something truly special. Our hope is that kids fall in love with classic storytelling and grown-ups rediscover it,” he added.
In the audiobook adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel Treasure Island, 38-year-old Rupert Grint will voice every character, from the innocent Jim Hawkins and the smooth-talking Long John Silver to the drunken Billy Bones and the half-mad islander Ben Gunn.
The story follows Jim Hawkins, a young boy who runs an inn with his mother in a coastal town in England. After discovering a secret treasure map in the chest of a deceased pirate who once stayed at the inn, Jim sets sail with Dr. Livesey and Squire Trelawney to find the hidden treasure. Their journey takes them to an island where they encounter dangerous pirates, including the notorious Long John Silver. The series will release new episodes every week starting December 8.
