Kate Middleton’s yellow gown ahead of the State Banquet on 20th October was reportedly a secret message. Middleton surprised watchers with her lemon-yellow Elie Saab gown, unlike the white or red gown that some had anticipated.

Her appearance coincided with Prince Harry’s interview with GQ. In the interview, he said, “With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile.”

In a Woman magazine issue, royal editor Emily Andrews said, “While at first sight it may have seemed like a standard royal engagement. William and Kate attending the Royal Film Performance, a charity fundraiser – this, alongside a significant uptick in public appearances, sends a secret message to Meghan and Harry.”

Yellow colour is associated with confidence, happiness, and optimism. Middleton completed the look with a gold Anya Hindmarch clutch and Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara. The gown featured a fitted bodice, cape sleeves, and high neckline.

The source alleged that Middleton is “of course” sending a message. A Source added, “This is how you do real royalty, so back off with your pale imitation.” (via Woman & Home) However, this was not the first time she made a different choice. Her purple gown at the Digger film premiere recently was also regal and held significance.

The State Banquet was held in honor of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman during his visit to the U.K. The event was attended by the working royals. Harry and Markle stepped down from their role as senior working royals in 2020. They are not part of the royals attending a State Banquet.

While Middleton’s choice of dress attracted attention, her tiara stood out as it was once worn by Princess Diana.
