Natasha Lyonne clarified her political stance after her recent activity on X left some fans questioning whether she supported Donald Trump. The Poker Face star responded directly to one user on October 21, writing that she was “not maga.”
The confusion followed two very different social media reactions from Lyonne. She sharply criticized Vice President JD Vance before later responding with emojis to a Trump post praising Elon Musk.
Natasha Lyonne says she prefers Donald Trump over JD Vance
Lyonne first reacted to footage of Vance speaking at a Republican campaign rally in Hendersonville, North Carolina, on October 19. During the event, a man shouted about the Jeffrey Epstein files before authorities escorted him away. Vance then made a joke about illegal border crossings.
Lyonne called Vance a “sketchy mofo” and described his remarks as “even scarier.” She also questioned how that political style had become normalized and referenced late science-fiction author Octavia Butler while calling the situation “Grimey times.”
However, a separate Natasha Lyonne X post created more confusion the following day. Trump praised Musk after the Tesla founder announced plans to give one share of SpaceX stock to every child in the United States.
As per USA Today, Trump thanked his “legendary friend” for the initiative and promoted Trump Accounts as a way for the private sector to invest in children.
Lyonne responded to Trump’s message without words, posting four emojis: a rocket, a saluting face, a sun and a smiling face wearing sunglasses.
The reaction quickly prompted questions from fans. One user urged her to delete the post, while another suggested she should claim someone had hacked her account.
Lyonne later addressed the speculation directly. When a user asked whether her posts meant she supported Trump, she replied, “not maga.”
Her clarification followed attempts by fans to interpret the contrast between her criticism of Vance and her emoji response to Trump and Elon Musk. Lyonne did not explain what she intended the four emojis to mean.
Her social media activity came months after reports about an April airline incident. Lyonne later addressed the episode on X and said ICE had detained her.
