Whitney Fransway was caught off guard when Kenny Martin proposed during their romantic trip to Italy. “I thought it wasn’t gonna happen until the new year, so I was shocked,” she said. The In the City stars got engaged on September 19 at Hotel Caesar Augustus in Anacapri.

Fransway recently showed off her engagement ring while attending the VRT Awards 2026, which was held at New York City’s Edison Ballroom on October 6. The design of the ring has a special connection to her mother.
Fransway said while posing on the red carpet with her fiancé, as per Page Six, “My mom actually had a thicker gold band on her engagement ring until she redid it at 20 years [of] being married, so that was kind of what I had told him. But then he did the rest.”
Martin, a real estate investor and venture capitalist, said he tried to prepare Fransway for the possibility that he would not propose during their trip. “I was giving her the whole, ‘Hey, listen, we’re going to Capri. … Are you gonna be OK if it doesn’t happen? I just want you to be prepared,’” he said. Fransway expressed, “He threw me off for months. I thought it wasn’t gonna happen until the new year, so I was shocked.”
Martin popped the question with an elongated cushion-shaped diamond set on a gold band from New York jeweler Material Good. The couple, whose relationship was one of the main storylines in Season 1 of In the City, has yet to decide if they will share their wedding with viewers. Fransway said she likes the idea of keeping the celebration private, but she is not ruling out a televised ceremony. Martin added, “We got to get Season 2 going first.”
